School improvement projects

We have been working on a number of projects to improve school infrastructure in communities where we operate in Argentina, to improve the educational experience for local children.
With the support of local schools and communities, we developed an initiative to improve school facilities including infrastructure and condition of buildings and to promote the creation and use of vegetable gardens, greenhouses and school libraries.
Glencore Agriculture Regional Director for South America Sergio Gancberg said that a number of schools were invited to enter a competition submitting project ideas that could improve their school.
We received submissions from 25 schools all offering ways to provide value to their students,” says Sergio. “They ranged from purchasing playground equipment, constructing a greenhouse, creating a vegetable garden and providing gardening tools and equipment, purchasing furniture to improve classrooms, installing internet antennas, and purchasing books to develop libraries.
“We thought all of the 25 submissions were worthwhile and decided to sponsor all the projects. We hope children will really benefit from these projects.”
